Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti is involved in legal issues as his team prepares for a key Champions League quarter-final match against Arsenal while simultaneously competing for the La Liga title.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Spanish prosecutors accused Ancelotti of defrauding the Treasury of more than €1 million by neglecting to register profits from image rights during his first stint at the club in 2014 and 2015.

They are now demanding a harsh penalty of four years and nine months in jail for this crime.

The Prosecutor’s Office believes that Ancelotti cheated the Spanish public treasury of €386,361 in 2014 and €675,718 in 2015, for a total of €1,062,079.  His outstanding debt increased to €1,217,958.24 due to fees and interest after police seized the funds.

Prosecutors claim the Italian coach transferred his image rights to other firms in what they call a “fictitious move” to avoid taxes.

Ancelotti previously appeared before Madrid’s 35th Investigating Court in 2021, admitting to tax evasion in 2014.
