The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, has declared nine individuals wanted for their alleged involvement in terrorism and violent extremism in the North-East region.

These individuals, identified by DHQ spokesman Maj-Gen Edward Buba, are Abu Khadijah, Abur Rahman, Dadi Gumba, Abu Yusuf, Musa Wa’a, Usman Kanin Shehu, Ibrahim Suyeka, Ba Sulhu, and Idris Taklakse.

Cyber Reporters reports that this announcement is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address insecurity in the region.

In a similar move, the Defence Headquarters had earlier declared 97 individuals wanted for terrorism and violent crimes across the country.

This list included suspected members of Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandit groups, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, with Simon Ekpa, a factional leader of IPOB, being one of them.

By releasing the names and photos of wanted individuals, the Defence Headquarters aims to enlist public support in identifying and capturing these suspects.

The ongoing efforts to address insecurity in Nigeria involve a multi-faceted approach, including military operations, intelligence gathering, and community engagement.

The declaration of wanted persons is an essential aspect of this strategy, as it helps to disrupt extremist networks and prevent further violence.
