Two persons have been sentenced by the Lagos State Magistrate Court in Ejigbo for vandalising transformers belonging to Ikeja Electric.
The company’s spokesperson, Kingsley Okotie who disclosed this in a statement revealed the convicts as Abubakar Alido and Ishola Olatunji.
The statement says the convicts are sentenced to one year and six months imprisonment respectively.
According to the statement, Alido vandalised a 500KVA transformer on Michael Aladesuyi Street, Egbeda, under the Omo Osho 11KV Feeder
Ishola on the other hand attempted to vandalize a transformer on Karimu Laka Street, Egbeda, under the Orelope 11KV Feeder.
After investigations were carried out, the police arraigned Alido at the Magistrate Court 1, Ejigbo, on June 14, 2024.
Alido was charged with willful damage of transformer cables, contrary to Section 339 and punishable under Section 350 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
When Alido pleaded guilty when the charges were read to him, the case was adjourned to July 2, 2024, when he was sentenced.
