Tragedy struck Mafa ward in Tarmuwa local government area of Yobe State as suspected Boko Haram members launched a deadly attack.

The terrorists stormed the village, killing the entire population and burning down houses and shops. The attack left a trail of destruction and death in its wake.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous described the horrific scene, stating that terrorists armed with weapons and riding motorcycles attacked Mafa, killing many innocent people.

Mallam Buba Adamu, another resident who escaped the attack, lamented that the Boko Haram insurgents killed people of all ages, including children, youths, and the elderly.

He revealed that the exact number of fatalities remains unknown, as the survivors are still trying to come to terms with the scale of the tragedy.

Adamu described the attack, saying the terrorists used rifles and RPGs, burning the entire village to the ground, adding that the aftermath of the attack is devastating, with nothing remaining in the village.

Adamu lamented: “Nobody is left in the village now, almost 80% of the villagers were killed, including small children. What kind of injustice is this? What kind of inhuman behavior?”

According to the village head, Lawan Mai Bano, the attack occurred on Sunday evening, revealing that the insurgents had warned of an attack on the village since last week.

According to Mai Bano, over 1,000 houses and shops were torched, with food and belongings looted.

He painted a dire picture, saying the terrorists killed many people, burning down everything in the village.
