Benfica manager, Jose Mourinho was furious after his team drew 1-1 with Rio Ave on Tuesday night Cyber Reporters reports.

Benfica had taken the lead in the second half, but Rio Ave equalized in stoppage time, leaving Mourinho frustrated with both his players’ lack of concentration and the referee’s decisions.

The result was particularly galling for Mourinho due to a disallowed goal in the first half.

He expressed his displeasure, saying, “We scored a goal. If this is the new football, when goals are ruled out because a small toe steps on another small toe, I don’t like this new football.”

Mourinho also criticized referee Sergio Guelho, stating, “He has no personality.”

This remark reflected his belief that the referee lacked the authority to manage the match effectively.

According to Mourinho, the referee’s handling of the game allowed Rio Ave to dictate the pace and ultimately influenced the outcome.

The late equalizer was the final straw for Mourinho, who said, “We kept trying and finally got the goal, but we conceded when we couldn’t concede a goal. It’s tremendously unfair and an awful result for us.”

This result left Benfica in a difficult position, and Mourinho’s frustration was palpable as he reflected on what could have been a crucial win.
