President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Cape Town, South Africa, to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission alongside President Cyril Ramaphosa.

This was made known on X by Frederick Nwabufo, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Engagement.

Tinubu was received by South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Roland Lamola, and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Nwabufo disclosed.

Cyber Reporters reports that this visit comes after Tinubu’s recent state visit to France.

The President’s diplomatic efforts aim to strengthen Nigeria’s relationships with key international partners and the Bi-National Commission meeting with South Africa is a crucial aspect of this effort.

The 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission will focus on various topics, including political consultations, consular and migration, banking and finance, defence and security, and trade and investments between Nigeria and South Africa.

The Bi-National Commission meeting is a significant event, marking 30 years of diplomatic relations between South Africa and Nigeria.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, the outcome of the Bi-National Commission meeting is expected to have a positive impact on the bilateral relationship between Nigeria and South Africa.

The commission aims to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new areas of cooperation and the meeting will provide a platform for the two leaders to discuss pressing issues and identify opportunities for mutual benefit.
