Brighton & Hove Albion is celebrating a remarkable achievement by their goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, who finished fourth in the women’s Goalkeeper of the Year category at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.

Cyber Reporters reports that Nnadozie made history as the first African and Nigerian goalkeeper to be nominated for this prestigious award.

The top spot went to Chelsea and England’s goalkeeper, Hannah Hampton.

Nnadozie had a stellar season with Paris FC and the Nigerian national team, helping Paris FC win the Women’s French Cup and leading the Super Falcons to a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

Brighton & Hove Albion congratulated Nnadozie on her achievement, posting on social media:

“@NadozieChiamaka is fourth in the #TrophéeYachine rankings at this year’s #BallonDor! Congratulations on your nomination, Chiamaka!”

In related news, Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu also received recognition, finishing fourth in the Coach of the Year category.

The award was won by Sarina Wiegman, who led England to victory in the European Women’s Championship.

Nnadozie and Madugu’s achievements highlight the growing influence of Nigerian football on the global stage.
