Professional American boxer, Jake Paul will battle former world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in California on Saturday, June 28.
American Paul, 28, is a contentious character in the sport who defeated 58-year-old Mike Tyson in a much-hyped but underwhelming fight in November.
Chavez Jr, the 39-year-old son of renowned former three-division world boxing champion Julio Cesar Chavez, has only competed once since 2021.
“Five years ago, I stepped into the ring for my pro debut after a single amateur fight, and every fight since has been a step towards becoming world champion,” says Paul.
Paul, who rose to prominence via releasing prank videos on YouTube, has an 11-fight winning streak, the most of which have come against former UFC fighters. His only defeat came in 2023 to British boxer Tommy Fury.
Mexican Chavez Jr has won 53 of his 61 fights and held the WBC middleweight belt from 2011 to 2012.
In 2017, he went the distance with pound-for-pound standout Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, but he lost a boxing match to former UFC champion Anderson Silva in 2021.
