Southampton are preparing to break ways with manager Ivan Juric following their relegation from the Premier League on Sunday.

The south coast club is yet to make an official announcement, but BBC Sport understands Juric’s exit will be announced later today.

Juric was named Russell Martin’s successor on an 18-month contract in December, but he has won only two of his 16 matches.

The Saints’ 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday marked the quickest relegation in Premier League history, with eight games remaining.  Southampton’s loss to Tottenham was their 25th of the season in the league.

Simon Rusk is set to serve as temporary manager, with Adam Lallana as his deputy.

Southampton are at the bottom of the standings with 10 points and need two more to avoid matching Derby County’s record-low score of 11, set in 2007-08.

Juric joined Southampton having been fired by Roma in November following only 12 games in charge of the Serie A team.
