Former Premier League footballer, Joey Barton was found guilty of assault by the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Barton is thought to have battered his wife after shoving her to the ground and kicking her in the head.

The 42-year-old, who previously played for Manchester City and QPR, assaulted Georgia Barton in June 2021.

It is believed that the incident occurred following a drunken argument at their family home in Kew, south-west London.

The couple, who had been drinking with two other couples while their children slept upstairs, began shouting when Barton threatened to fight his wife’s brother and father, Westminster Magistrates Court previously heard.  Barton, Bristol Rovers’ manager at the time, will be jailed at a later date.
