Jamal Simmons, former communications director for Vice President Kamala Harris has called on President Joe Biden to consider stepping down to pave the way for Harris to become the first female US President.
Simmons praised Biden’s presidency, noting he has delivered on many promises, adding that resigning within 30 days would be the ultimate transitional move, allowing Harris to take the reins.
Simmons’ proposal was not just about making history, but also about shifting the Democratic Party’s image positively, especially after Harris’ defeat on January 6.
However, Simmons’ suggestion caught some off guard, with CNN’s Scott Jennings reacting with a surprised “Whoa!” during the segment.
He said:
“He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris President of the United States.
“It’d turn tables on Trump, keep Kamala from presiding over January 6 and make it easier for the next woman to run.
“This is something within Joe Biden‘s control. If he did it, it would, again, fulfill his last promise and give Kamala Harris a chance to be the 47th President of the United States of America. It would disrupt all of Donald Trump‘s paraphernalia, right? He‘d have to rebrand everything. And make it easier for the next woman president not have to hold all that weight of being the first,”
This unconventional idea has sparked interest, with many weighing in on its potential implications.
Some see it as a strategic move to revitalize the Democratic Party, while others view it as an unlikely scenario.
