Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has stated his team’s willingness to combat Rwanda’s Amavubi.

The Malian will captain the Super Eagles for the first time in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Adel Amrouche’s team on Friday at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.

After four matches, the Super Eagles still haven’t won a qualifier. Chelle stated that his side is prepared to snap the run.

“They have a new coach, they want to win and we also want to win. We are ready,” the 47-year-old said at the pre-match press conference.

“We must focus on our game, we have a great squad. We must work hard. What we do with the ball and off the ball will be important. We are focusing on our preparation and we will be ready.”

Chelle said they are firmly focused on the game and not the other fixtures in the group.

“I just want to be with my players, I want my players to focus on this game and after that, we will see the other games. We need to win this game,” he added.
