Former captain of the Super Eagles Austine Okocha, believes that it is critical that Nigerian football supporters fully embrace Eric Chelle, the team’s new head coach.
Nigerian football fans and commentators have differing opinions about Chelle’s appointment.
Okocha stated that in order for his job to be successful, the Malian must have complete support.
The former playmaker for Bolton Wanderers went on to say that the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is crucial.
“The NFF made the decision to select the new coach,” Okocha stated on Lagos Talks FM.
“We should give him a chance to do his job.
We should support him as well as the NFF and hopefully we will be at the World Cup.
“We all want the team to qualify for the World Cup because we all benefit when they are doing well.”
