The Super Eagles‘ bid for their first African Nations Championship, CHAN, title has been made more challenging after being drawn into Group D alongside defending champions Senegal, Congo, and Sudan.

The draw was held at the Kenyatta International Conventional Centre in Nairobi, Kenya, and was conducted by CAF Director of Competitions, Samson Adamu.

The ceremony was attended by three East African legends: Kenya’s McDonald Mariga, Tanzania’s Mrisho Ngasa, and Uganda’s Hassan Wasswa.

The Super Eagles, 2018 silver-medalists, will face a tough test in Group D.

Senegal, the defending champions, will be looking to retain their title, while Congo and Sudan will also pose significant challenges to the Super Eagles.

The CHAN tournament, which features national teams with only home-based players, was initially scheduled for next month but has been postponed to August due to uncompleted facilities.

The groups for the tournament are: Group A features Kenya, Morocco, Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Zambia.

Group B consists of Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, and Central African Republic.

Group C includes Uganda, Niger Republic, Guinea, and two wild card teams to be determined by CAF.
