Ademola Lookman, Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, has expressed his surprise at Victor Boniface’s omission from the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award nominees.

Boniface, 23, had a remarkable season with Leverkusen, playing a crucial role in the team’s success.

His impressive campaign saw him score 21 goals in 34 appearances across various competitions for Leverkusen.

Boniface’s contributions were instrumental in helping the team win the Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal trophy.

Moreover, Leverkusen remained unbeaten throughout the Bundesliga season, a testament to Boniface’s importance to the team.

Lookman, who is familiar with Boniface’s abilities, praised his fellow Nigerian’s achievements.

“He had an amazing season, achieving personal goals and winning two titles with Leverkusen,” Lookman said. “Their unbeaten league record is remarkable.”

Lookman believes that Boniface’s impressive performance warranted a nomination for the 2024 CAF Men’s Player of the Year award.

However, he acknowledged that he does not have a say in the selection process. “Maybe he deserved a nomination, but I don’t make the rules,” Lookman added.
