Former Manchester United winger, Nani has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 38.

The Portuguese player began his career at Sporting CP before joining Manchester United in 2007 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

He went on to play for 10 clubs in total, including Fenerbahçe and Orlando City SC.

Nani made the announcement on his X handle, stating that he had made the difficult decision to “hang up my boots.”

He expressed pride in his achievements, calling his career “beautiful” and “filled with many achievements.”

Throughout his 19-year career, Nani scored 130 goals in over 620 matches. He was also a key player for Portugal, helping the team win the European Championship title in 2016.

Nani’s retirement marks the end of an illustrious career that took him to various countries, including Turkey, Spain, and the United States.

He had signed with Estrela Amadora, a team from his hometown, at the start of 2024.

Nani’s legacy as a skilled and dedicated player will be remembered by fans and fellow players alike.
