President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes to the management of the South East Development Commission, SEDC.

In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, it was announced that Emeka Atuma has been relieved of his duties as Chairman of the Commission.

Cyber Reporters reports that Emeka Atuma’s replacement is Emeka Nworgu, who has been appointed as the new Chairman of the SEDC.

This change is part of a broader review of the Commission’s management, aimed at enhancing its effectiveness in promoting development in the South East region.

In addition to the change in chairmanship, President Tinubu has also replaced all three executive directors initially nominated by the Commission.

Two new executive directors have been appointed, bringing the total number of executive directors to five.

The new executive directors are Stanley Ohajuruka, who will serve as Executive Director of Finance, and Toby Okechukwu, who will serve as Executive Director of Projects.

They replace Anthony Ugbo and Obinna Obiekweihe, respectively.

Sylvester Okonkwo has been appointed as the new Executive Director of Corporate Services, replacing Daniel Ikechukwu Ugwuja.

Two other executive directors, Chidi Echeazu and Clifford Ogbede, have been nominated without a specific portfolio.

Mark C. Okoye will retain his position as the Commission’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer.

The 16-member board includes several other members who have been retained, including Ugochukwu H. Agballah, Okey Ezenwa, and Hyacinth Ikpor.

All the new nominees are subject to Senate confirmation.

President Tinubu expects the new nominees to use their wealth of experience and expertise to actualize the Commission’s mandate and develop the South East region.
