Ruud van Nistelrooy, the newly appointed manager of Leicester City, has opened up about his departure from Manchester United, where he served as an assistant coach.

In a candid conversation, Van Nistelrooy revealed that he had a heart-to-heart discussion with Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, before leaving Old Trafford in November.

Van Nistelrooy expressed his feelings of hurt and disappointment after being dismissed from his role at Manchester United, a club where he has strong personal and professional ties.

Despite his new role at Leicester City, Van Nistelrooy reflected on the events that led to his exit from United, including his brief stint as interim manager following Erik ten Hag’s departure.

Van Nistelrooy revealed that he had made it clear that he intended to stay on at Manchester United as an assistant coach, but was not incorporated into Amorim’s new coaching setup.

He acknowledged that this decision was disappointing and hurtful, but ultimately understood the dynamics of the situation.

The Dutch tactician praised the opportunity to have a candid conversation with Amorim, describing it as a valuable experience.

Van Nistelrooy appreciated the chance to speak “man to man, person to person, manager to manager” and acknowledged Amorim’s decision-making process.

As Van Nistelrooy prepares to take charge of Leicester City for the first time, he reflected on his commitment to Manchester United and his desire to have remained at the club.

However, he has now turned his attention to his new role at Leicester City and is focused on achieving success with the Foxes.

Van Nistelrooy’s first game in charge of Leicester City is tonight, as they take on West Ham at 9:15 p.m.
