Former Super Falcons star, Desire Oparanozie has slammed Malawian referee Godfrey Philip Nkhakananga for controversially disallowing Ademola Lookman’s goal in Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Libya in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Cyber Reporters earlier reported that Lowman’s well-crafted strike in the 83rd minute was ruled out for offside after assistant referee Clemence Kanduku intervened.

Oparanozie expressed her frustration on X, questioning the absence of VAR in Uyo and labeling the decision as “poor officiating.”

The disallowed goal did not prevent Nigeria from securing victory, as Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the winner shortly after.

However, Oparanozie’s criticism highlights concerns over inconsistent refereeing decisions in African football.

Nigeria’s win maintains their top spot in Group D, but the controversy surrounding Lookman’s disallowed goal has sparked debate over the need for improved officiating standards.
