The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has extended an invitation to Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo to join the Super Eagles.

The NFF while giving Adarabioyo a condition to joining the Super Eagles, stated that he must make a formal approach.

Adarabioyo, who recently left Fulham for Chelsea, is reportedly open to switching international allegiance.

The 27-year-old centre-back has previously represented England at youth level, but his Nigerian heritage keeps the door open for a potential switch.

According to FIFA rules, Adarabioyo remains eligible to play for Nigeria, having not yet made a senior appearance for England.

Adarabioyo had previously rejected the opportunity to represent Nigeria, citing unreadiness. Former Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro had personally approached him last year, but the defender stood firm in his decision.

However, with Adarabioyo’s transfer to Chelsea and his reported willingness to switch allegiance, the NFF is willing to reconsider.

“Jose Peseiro travelled to meet with him in the UK last year to speak to him about playing for Nigeria, but he told the coach at that time that he was not ready,” an NFF source revealed.

The NFF has now made it clear that Adarabioyo must take the initiative if he wants to join the Super Eagles.

“If he wants to make the switch now, he knows what to do,” the source added.

This formal invitation presents Adarabioyo with a second chance to don the Nigerian jersey.

As Adarabioyo ponders his next move, Nigerian football fans eagerly await his decision.
