I Rejected Super Eagles Offer Despite Lucrative Deal- Renard

French tactician Hervé Renard has made a stunning revelation about his near appointment as the head coach of Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

In an interview, Renard disclosed that he was approached by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, following Finidi George’s unexpected exit in May.

Renard, who boasts impressive stints at Ivory Coast and Zambia, confirmed that the NFF’s offer was the most lucrative he had received.

This revelation comes as a surprise, given Renard’s illustrious coaching career and the attractive prospect of leading Nigeria’s national team.

Despite the enticing offer, Renard revealed that he deliberated extensively before ultimately declining the opportunity.

Renard attributed his decision to the fact that the role did not align with his personal preferences.

He said: “I almost went to Nigeria. I weighed the pros and cons for a few days, even weeks, before eventually turning it down.

“It was the best offer I’ve had so far, but it didn’t suit me in the end,”

This development left the Super Eagles in limbo, with German coach Bruno Labbadia also failing to secure the position.

As the Super Eagles continue their search for a suitable head coach, Renard’s near-appointment serves as a reminder of the complexities involved in securing top talent.
