Dangote Group has unveiled plans to transport refined petroleum products by sea, aiming to ease pressure on Nigeria’s road networks and boost exports to other African countries.

Senior Adviser to the Group President on Special Projects and Strategic Relations, Fatima Wali-Abdurrahman made the announcement.

According Wali-Abdurrahman, the company’s jetty in the Lekki Free Zone will handle bulk cargoes during the refinery’s development.

She said this initiative will reduce road congestion, increase exports, and contribute to Nigeria’s economic growth.

Wali-Abdurrahman also revealed that Dangote Group has also invested in Compressed Natural Gas to reduce its carbon footprint and costs.

She said for over the past decade, the company has converted about a third of its fleet, with plans to convert the entire fleet.

She said: Today, we are exporting our products to many African countries through the seaport.

“We also plan to ease the pressure on the roads from the refinery by transporting finished petroleum products to other ports along the Nigerian coast by sea, for further distribution to the hinterland.”
