Manchester City player, Matheus Nunes has been arrested for allegedly taking the phone of a 58-year-old man, Cyber Reporters report.
Nunes was accused of stealing the phone from the washroom at Madrid’s La Riviera nightclub.
According to the Spanish outlet El Mundo, the Portuguese international was apprehended by the National Police on Sunday, September 8.
The incident occurred while the 26-year-old was on international duty, but was not selected, so he was with pals and was arrested about 5:30 a.m., with police claiming that the phone was with the footballer in his hotel room.
According to El Mundo, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers player collected the phone after the man attempted to grab him without his consent.
Similarly, eyewitnesses stated that the victim made physical contact with Matheus Nunes while holding the phone, causing a misconception that resulted in Nunes’ violent reaction.
He was arrested and detained in custody for a brief time before being given bail. He is currently awaiting trial, however, the date has not been set.
Nunes has made three Premier League appearances for Pep Guardiola’s team this season, six overall, and scored once.
