Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky has denied allegations of bribing Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, operatives to drop money laundering charges against him.

The controversy began when social media influencer VeryDarkMan released a viral audio clip claiming Bobrisky paid N15 million to EFCC officials.

The EFCC promptly responded, with Head of Media and Publicity Dele Oyewale stating that Chairman Ola Olukoyede had ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.

Bobrisky took to Instagram to clear his name, dismissing the audio clip as “fake.”

He emphasized that he served his jail term in full, stressing that he did not pay any bribes to EFCC officials.

Bobrisky said his statement aims to set the record straight and dispel rumors surrounding his imprisonment.

He wrote, “My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC 15 million naira, and that I was never in prison… I didn’t pay any EFCC money, which is a very big lie. I served my term in full, and I came out. Discard any false information.”

It’s worth noting that Bobrisky was previously sentenced to six months in prison without the option of a fine for abusing the naira.

He began serving his term on March 24, 2024. The EFCC’s investigation will likely examine the circumstances surrounding his imprisonment and the bribery allegations.
