President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deepest condolences to the government and people of Yobe State following the tragic loss of lives in Mafa, Tarmuwa local government area.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu offered his sympathies to the bereaved families and condemned the senseless killings.

The President described the attack as an “atrocious and cowardly act of terror” perpetrated by a degraded group of criminals. He prayed for the souls of the deceased to rest in peace and for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.

Tinubu assured the people of Yobe State that the perpetrators of this heinous act will face justice, stating that their encounter with the law is inevitable.

This statement comes after reports emerged that terrorists, suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents, stormed the Mafa community on Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction and death.

According to eyewitnesses, over 100 people lost their lives in the attack, although only 77 victims have been buried so far. The remains of the deceased were laid to rest on Tuesday amidst tears and mourning from the residents.

The residents of Mafa had appealed to the government to provide aid and support to the affected community.

They requested the deployment of more security operatives to the area and assistance for those whose homes were razed during the attack.

The attack on Mafa has left a devastating impact on the community, and President Tinubu’s statement serves as a reassurance that the government is committed to bringing the perpetrators to justice and providing support to those affected.
