Fed Govt Issues Travel Alert for Citizens Intending to Visit Uk

The Nigerian government has issued a travel alert to its citizens intending to visit the United Kingdom, UK.

In a statement signed by the spokesperson to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, noted the risk of increased violence over the recent riots in the UK.

The federal government advised Nigerians travelling to the UK to “be extra vigilant and take measures.”

These measures include avoiding political processions, protests, rallies and marches.

The statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also warned Nigerians to avoid crowded areas and large gatherings.

The statement reads: “There is an increased risk of violence and disorder occasioned by the recent riots in the UK, stemming from the killing of 3 young girls at a concert.

“The violence has assumed dangerous proportions as evidenced by reported attacks on Law enforcement agents and damage to infrastructure. To this end, citizens are advised to be extra vigilant and take measures as follows.

“Avoid political processions and protests, rallies or marches.

“Avoid crowded areas and large gatherings.

“Be vigilant and self-aware at all times.
