A former Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh has died.

AFCON2024: Nigeria’s super eagles lead South Africa by 1:0

The APC Chieftain who suffered a heart attack while watching the AFCON semi finals match between Nigeria and South Africa was said to have collapsed right on the spot.

The incident occurred when a penalty was awarded to South Africa against Nigeria, Dr. Cairo was said to have made a loud scream on the goal and collapsed afterwards.

Dr. Cairo, a one time lawmaker was also the Executive Director of Projects at the NDDC until 2023 when the board was dissolved.

Tons of Nigerians have expressed shock over such a sudden death, meanwhile, Nigeria has qualified for the finals against Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday.
