Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Timipre Sylva wins big as appeal Court sitting in Bayelsa reversed his disqualification judgment and affirmed his eligible to contest.

The Federal High Court, Abuja had disqualified Sylva from running for office in on the 9th of October 2023.

Delivering judgment, Donatus Okorowo, presiding judge, had held that Sylva who had served as Governor for five years was ineligible to seat as governor again for another four years.

Adding that a governor serving more than 8 years would be an aberration of the Nigerian Constitution.

However, in today’s appeal at the appellate court in the State Capital, Yenagoa, this decision has been upturned and Sylva cleared to contest.
