Anthony Joshua’s boxing future is under scrutiny after his shocking defeat to Daniel Dubois in September and Chinese heavyweight contender Zhilei Zhang has joined the chorus of voices advising him to retire.

Joshua’s bid to become a three-time world champion ended in disaster at Wembley Stadium as he suffered a fifth-round knockout after being knocked down four times.

Zhang, who recently defeated Deontay Wilder with a brutal knockout, believes Joshua’s time in the ring is over.

“My personal humble opinion is that he is finished,” Zhang told DAZN.

The Chinese boxer advised Joshua to focus on business investments instead. “He should look into retirement and get himself wrapped up with the business side of it,” Zhang suggested.

Despite his assessment of Joshua’s career decline, Zhang expressed interest in fighting him. However, he doubts Eddie Hearn would agree to the matchup.

Cyber Reporters reports that this is not the first call for Joshua’s retirement as former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis also advised him to take a break from boxing.

Lewis believes Joshua’s peak was in 2017 when he defeated Wladimir Klitschko. “No, I don’t think he should take the rematch. I think he should take a rest for a minute and then come back,” Lewis told Box Nation.
