President Bola Tinubu delivered a powerful message on Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, highlighting the administration’s progress in combating terrorism and banditry.

President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his government is making significant strides towards ensuring security and stability across the country.

Tinubu emphasized the administration’s target to eliminate all threats of Boko Haram, banditry, kidnapping for ransom, and violent extremism.

Notably, he mentioned that over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by troops in the North East, North West, and other parts of the country, resulting in restored peace in hundreds of communities.

However, he reassured Nigerians that security agencies are committed to ending the conflicts quickly, allowing families to return home and paving the way for improved production and lower food costs.

In addition to security efforts, Tinubu highlighted the government’s response to recent natural disasters, demonstrating the administration’s dedication to addressing challenges and supporting affected communities.

Part of the speech reads:

“As of the latest count, over 300 Boko Haram and bandit commanders have been eliminated by our troops in the North East, North West, and other parts of the country.

“We have restored peace. Hundreds of communities in the North and thousands of our people are now able to return home.

“Our security agencies are committed to ending this as quickly as possible. As soon as we can restore peace to many communities in the troubled parts of the North, our families can return to their homes.

“We expect to see a leap in improved production and a downward spiral in food costs. I promise you we shall not falter on this.”
