The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reaffirmed its commitment to bringing former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello to justice over alleged N80.2 billion fraud.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale stated that Bello will face trial, just like other indicted former governors, ministers, and officials.
Oyewale emphasized that attempts to frustrate the investigation and prosecution will not succeed.
He said the EFCC is prepared to present overwhelming evidence in court to prove its case.
The EFCC spokesperson reiterated that the commission remains dedicated to ensuring the law takes its course in the money laundering charges filed against Bello.
The EFCC emphasized its “no sacred cow” policy, stressing that corruption will be prosecuted relentlessly.
He said: ”EFCC is eager to engage the former governor in the courtroom, where the avalanche of evidence so painstakingly assembled can be presented.
”Bello must have his day in court, no matter the recourse to blackmail, appeal to emotive public sympathy or acts of brigandage.
