CP Ishola Olanrewaju Olawale has taken over as the 40th Commissioner of Police at the Lagos State Command.
He succeeds CP Adegoke Fayoade, who was promoted to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and has since been redeployed to AIG Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.
CP Ishola joined the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1992, according to a statement made by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.
He earned a BSc in Geography and an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Ibadan. Among other training and educational interests, he completed the Tactical Leadership and Command Course at Police Staff College Jos and the Strategic Leadership and Command Course at the National Institute of Police Studies in Abuja.
‘’He has served in numerous key positions, both operational and administrative, where he ensured law and order in some of the most challenging environments.”
His expertise in Lagos spans decades, and he has effectively managed high-stakes events such as the OPC Idi Araba and Abule Egba crises, establishing himself as a tactical leader with a thorough awareness of the city’s unique security landscape.
As CP Ishola begins on his mission to maintain law and order, develop community trust, and improve state safety through his wealth of experience, deep local knowledge, and dedication to reforms, the good people of Lagos State are urged to give him their full support and cooperation.”
Hundeyin revealed that the new police chief is happily married with three children and a granddaughter.
