Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South in the National Assembly, has publicly refused a new office assigned to him by the Senate Services Committee, citing issues about seniority and rank.
On Tuesday, July 30, Ndume wrote to the Chairman of the Senate Services Committee, expressing unhappiness with the office provided to him, claiming that it does not reflect his seniority and high-ranking role in the Senate.
The letter, signed by his Chief Confidential Secretary, Yati Shuaibu Gawu, stated: “I am directed to inform you that, Distinguished Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, has rejected the allocation of office number 3.10 by the Committee.
This is because offices are traditionally allocated on a seniority basis. Sen Ndume is the most senior senator after Sen Ahmad Lawan and will only occupy an office on the fourth floor.”
This development follows Ndume’s recent removal from his position as Chief Whip of the Senate, a move that came after his criticisms of the President Bola Tinubu-led government.
