Members of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors forum have expressed optimism in the integrity of the Supreme Court on the pending cases of some of their members.

This and many more details were contained in a communique issued by members of the forum after their meeting in Abuja.

The governors led by their chairman, Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State said the forum conversed on a number of issues, including the recent judgments of the appeal court on some of its members.

“As a Forum, we once again re-state our overall confidence in the judiciary to do justice,” the communique signed by Bala Mohammed, chairman of the forum, reads.

“We believe that the Supreme Court will do justice in the cases where we recorded temporary setbacks like Zamfara and Plateau States.”

Sometime In November 2023, the Appeal Court had sacked both Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal and Governor of plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang.

The governors commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the promise to review some irregularities in the just concluded Governoship elections in Imo, Bayelsa and Kogi State.

“We support the decision of INEC to investigate the allegation of the existence of pre-filled result sheets even before elections started in some places to ensure the confidence of the people in the electoral process,” the forum said.

While speaking on the economy, the forum urged the president to devise new sharing formulas that “gives more money to states and local governments to enable them meet their increased responsibilities”.
