Nasarawa United has been accused with violating the NPFL Framework and Rules in their Matchday 18 match against Rivers United on December 22, 2024.

According to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), Nasarawa violated NPFL 2025 guidelines by encroaching onto the field of play during the match.

Nasarawa’s failure to maintain good team and supporter conduct resulted in an assault on the away team and centre referee Musibaudeen Ibrahim, as determined by the NPFL.

As a result, the NPFL ordered that Nasarawa would pay a fine of N3 million, including N1 million each for encroaching on the pitch, failing to guarantee the conduct of their squad and supporters, and failing to provide enough and effective security.

The NPFL also ordered that Nasarawa’s points and goals totals will be reduced by three for the assault on the center referee.

The Lafia-based team has also been required to identify and prosecute the individual(s) responsible for attacking the away squad, with progress reports sent to the NPFL within seven working days of receiving this notice.

In its final decision, the NPFL ordered that the Lafia City Stadium will be closed to spectators indefinitely until security is improved and the state box is barricaded, with the club instructed to provide feedback on compliance to the NPFL security department.
