Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has praised the VAR decision to award John Stones’ late winner against Wolves on Sunday, insisting that Bernardo Silva did not impede goalkeeper Jose Sa.

City came from behind to secure a dramatic 2-1 victory, with Jorgen Strand Larsen opening the scoring for Wolves.

Josko Gvardiol equalized before halftime, setting the stage for Stones’ decisive header in the final minute.

The goal was subject to a VAR review, but referee Chris Kavanagh ultimately deemed Silva’s presence did not interfere with Sa’s ability to make the save.

“I didn’t understand the initial flag. The linesman’s decision surprised me, but Bernardo wasn’t disturbing the keeper’s position, Guardiola said.”

Guardiola emphasized that modern football rules favor the attacker, allowing Stones a free header.

“Today, they protect the keeper’s space, but in this case, Sa had a clear view,” he explained.

The City boss praised the quality of Phil Foden’s corner and Stones’ finishing, calling them “magnificent.”

The win maintains Manchester City’s momentum, and Guardiola will look to build on this result in their upcoming fixtures.
