Flying Eagles head coach, Aliu Zubairu has attributed Monday’s 1-0 loss to Norway in the FIFA U20 World Cup to hard luck and a disallowed goal.

Norway won the Group F opener match 1-0 with a 9th-minute penalty converted by Rasmus Holten.

Zubairu in an interview after the match stated that his team created numerous scoring opportunities but failed to capitalize on them.

“It was hard luck,” he said. “We created several scoring chances and even had a goal disallowed — if that had stood, the game could’ve been different.”

The coach emphasized that possession does not win games, but taking chances does, adding that his team fell short.

Zubairu has now shifted focus to the next match against Saudi Arabia, where the Flying Eagles will aim to secure all three points.

With a tough opponent upcoming, the team will look to regroup and come back stronger in their remaining matches.

The loss to Norway has given them a setback, but they remain determined to make a mark in the tournament.
