Nigeria’s U-20 men’s football team, the Flying Eagles, has arrived in Talca, Chile, to prepare for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup Cyber Reporters reports.

The team, which has finished as runners-up twice in the tournament, is grouped with Norway, Saudi Arabia, and Colombia in Group F, with all matches scheduled to be played in Talca.

Upon arrival, the Flying Eagles were warmly welcomed by FIFA officials, the Local Organizing Committee, and hotel staff before settling into their accommodation at Hotel Diego de Almagro.

The team later held its first training session in the evening to kickstart final preparations for the tournament.

Head coach Ali Zubair expressed confidence in his team’s readiness, stating that they have learned from their Africa U-20 Cup of Nations campaign and corrected the mistakes that affected their performance.

Prior to arriving in Talca, the Flying Eagles completed a 12-day training camp in Santiago, where they played two international friendlies, drawing 1-1 with Chile and defeating Australia 3-1.

The Flying Eagles will begin their campaign against Norway on September 29 at the Estadio Fiscal de Talca, followed by matches against Saudi Arabia and Colombia.

With a strong history in the tournament, having produced notable players like Mikel Obi, Kelechi Iheanacho, and Victor Osimhen, the team aims to make a mark in the competition.

Cyber Reporters notes that Nigeria’s U-20 team has a reputation as one of Africa’s most successful youth teams, having reached the semifinals on multiple occasions and finishing as runners-up twice.
