Barcelona’s star midfielder Gavi will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his injured meniscus after conservative treatment failed to resolve the issue.

Cyber Reporters reports that the 21-year-old has been sidelined since late August with the same knee injury that previously required surgery for a torn cruciate ligament and meniscus damage in 2023.

Gavi underwent “intense sports stress tests” on Sunday, which revealed that surgery was necessary to guarantee a full recovery and safe return to competitive action.

Cyber Reporters gathered that the procedure will be performed on Tuesday.

Barcelona expects Gavi to be out for several weeks, although an exact timeline for his return has not been specified.

In contrast, Fermín López, who played for half an hour in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Getafe, has been ruled out for around three weeks with a muscular injury in his hip.

This injury adds to Barcelona’s growing list of absentees, including Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, and Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who are all dealing with their own injuries.

The club’s midfield options are further limited, putting pressure on Hansi Flick to manage his squad effectively and prevent further injuries.
