Nigeria’s Falconets secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Rwanda in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifier in Kigali.

Cyber Reporters reports that the winning goal was scored by Alaba Olabiyi, who headed in Miracle Usani’s corner kick 20 minutes from the end of the match.

Olabiyi was left unmarked in the box, allowing her to nod home the decisive goal.

Despite dominating the game and creating more scoring opportunities, Moses Aduku’s side could not extend their lead beyond a single goal.

The Falconets had several chances to score, but Rwanda’s defense held strong, preventing Nigeria from adding to their advantage.

The first-leg victory gives Nigeria a significant advantage heading into the second leg.

The Falconets will host Rwanda at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan next Sunday.

Given their current lead, a draw in the second leg would be enough for Nigeria to advance to the next round of the qualifiers.

The Falconets’ ultimate goal is to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, where four African teams will be represented.

With their strong performance in the first leg, Nigeria is one step closer to achieving this goal.
