Super Eagles winger and new Fulham signing Samuel Chukwueze has opened up on Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Super Eagles star Samuel Chukwueze has stressed the importance of winning the team’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa to boost their chances of securing a place at the global tournament.

The pressure is mounting on Nigeria, who currently sit fourth in Group C with seven points from six games, six points behind leaders South Africa.

With an automatic qualification spot on the line, the two crucial matches are considered “must-win” fixtures. Speaking after completing his loan move to Fulham from AC Milan, the winger said,

“For now, I am just focusing on the game. We need the two games, Rwanda and South Africa.

“So, I think we have to win the two games to secure our World Cup ticket.”

Chukwueze will join the national team camp imminently in preparation for the crucial double-header.

The Super Eagles will first host Rwanda in a matchday seven fixture at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo this Saturday. They will then travel to Bloemfontein to face South Africa three days later in a pivotal showdown.
