Carles Pérez Suffers Groin Injury After Dog Attack, Ruled Out Of Europa Clash

Former Barcelona winger Carles Pérez has been sidelined after suffering a serious groin injury in a dog attack, according to reports from Greece and Spain.

The 27-year-old, now playing for Greek side Aris Thessaloniki, was reportedly walking his own dog when he was bitten near the genitals by another dog while trying to separate the two animals. The incident left Pérez with a deep wound, requiring hospital treatment and six stitches, as reported by Marca.

Local outlet Prime Sport noted that doctors considered surgery to repair the injury, though no operation has yet been confirmed.

The injury rules Pérez out of Aris’s upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League fixture. He featured in their 2-1 first-leg defeat to Araz-Nakhchivan, but will now miss the return match in Thessaloniki.

Pérez, who made his senior debut for Barcelona in 2019 and went on to make 11 appearances for the club, had been a regular part of Aris’s European campaign before this unexpected setback.
