Nigeria international Umar Sadiq has been left out of Real Sociedad’s pre-season squad for their summer tour of Japan, further fueling speculation over his future at the club.
The 28-year-old striker, who joined Sociedad from Almería in 2022 for a reported €20 million, has struggled to cement a regular place following a series of injury setbacks and inconsistent form.
Spanish media reports suggest that new head coach Sergio Francisco does not consider Sadiq part of his plans for the upcoming campaign. The forward was also omitted from the squad in last week’s friendly against French side Pau FC.
According to Levante-EMV, the club is open to facilitating Sadiq’s exit, with La Liga rivals Valencia monitoring the situation. The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia, scoring six goals in 19 appearances.
Sadiq remains under contract with Real Sociedad until 2026, but club sources indicate that sporting directors are actively exploring transfer options before the window closes.
