Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been pulled out of the club’s pre-season tour owing to a hamstring injury.

The 29-year-old shot-stopper sustained the injury this week when players returned to Carrington.

Onana could miss six to eight weeks of action, but the club is “hopeful” he will be eligible to start the Premier League opener against Arsenal on August 17, which will be shown live on Sky Sports.

United’s back-up possibilities include Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, and Radek Vitek.

In the next weeks, the club will decide whether to recruit in the position, either as cover or to compete with Onana once he is back to full fitness.
United face Leeds in Sweden next weekend before flying to the US for games against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.

Reports stated that Monaco were interested in Onana earlier in the summer transfer window, with the Cameroon international regularly being linked with a move away from Old Trafford after making numerous high-profile errors.
