Tennis superstar Serena Williams has shared her thoughts on Jannik Sinner’s recent doping controversy.

Cyber Reporters reports that Sinner, the world No. 1, tested positive for clostebol twice in March 2024 and was subsequently handed a three-month ban.

However, he is set to return to competition at the Italian Open next month.

Sinner attributed the positive tests to a massage from his physio, who had used an over-the-counter spray containing the anabolic steroid clostebol to treat a cut on his finger.

The Tennis Integrity Agency initially did not impose a ban, but the World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA, appealed the decision.

In a recent interview with, Serena Williams expressed her admiration for Sinner, praising his personality and game.

She believes he is great for the sport, stating, “Men’s tennis needs him.”

However, Williams also drew attention to the disparity in potential punishments.

Williams said, “If I did that, I would have gotten 20 years. Let’s be honest. I would have had Grand Slams taken away from me.”

This comment highlights the controversy surrounding Sinner’s relatively lenient ban.

The situation has sparked debate in the tennis world, with many questioning the consistency of doping punishments.

As Sinner prepares to return to competition, the discussion around doping regulations and their application continues to unfold.
