The Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, has fined Nasarawa United N6 million for a security breach during their match against Plateau United.

Cyber Reporters reports that the incident occurred when a home supporter attacked Plateau United’s forward, Vincent Temitope, during a matchday 33 fixture that Nasarawa United won 3-2.

In addition to the fine, the NPFL has mandated that Nasarawa United play their remaining home fixtures at Pantami Stadium in Gombe due to concerns over inadequate security at their home ground, Lafia City Stadium.

The league authorities have also ordered the club to identify the individual responsible for the assault on Temitope and provide evidence that legal action is being taken against them.

Furthermore, Nasarawa United must implement more effective security measures for future matches and submit a detailed crowd control plan to the NPFL board before they can return to playing at Lafia City Stadium in subsequent seasons.

According to NPFL, the club has 48 hours to appeal the sanctions.

Currently, Nasarawa United sits 14th on the league table with 42 points, just four points above the relegation zone.
