Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has agreed to a new 14-year contract for $500 million with the Toronto Blue Jays.
According to reports, there is no postponed money in the terms of the agreement, which were leaked on Sunday.
The only contract that surpasses this one is Juan Soto’s $765 million, 15-year agreement that was reached in December.
Guerrero was the 2021 MVP runner-up and has been selected to the All-Star team four times.
At the end of the season, he was scheduled to become a free agent. Toronto avoids a fierce bidding war on the free market by securing him to a new contract now.
The 26-year-old’s career totals include 160 home runs, 511 RBIs (runs batted in), and a batting average of.287 over 829 games.
