The Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, have made a notable improvement in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, released on Thursday.

Cyber Reporters reports that the three-time African champions have moved up one spot, now occupying the 43rd position globally.

This upward movement is a proof to the team’s recent performances, particularly in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Super Eagles were in action against Rwanda and Zimbabwe last month, securing a 2-0 win against the former and a 1-1 draw against the latter.

Despite their progress globally, the Super Eagles dropped one spot in the African rankings, falling out of the top five on the continent.

Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, and Cote d’Ivoire currently occupy the top four spots in Africa, with the Super Eagles looking to reclaim their position among the continent’s elite.

The latest rankings also saw Argentina extend its lead at the top, following their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The top five remains unchanged, with Spain, France, England, and Brazil holding steady. These teams will be looking to maintain their positions as the World Cup approaches.

As the Super Eagles continue their qualifying campaign, they will be aiming to build on their recent performances and climb further up the rankings.

With a talented squad and a new coach, Eric Chelle at the helm, Nigerian fans will be hoping for a successful World Cup campaign.
