Cote d’Ivoire has withdrawn from hosting the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations.
In a press release, Yacine Idriss Diallo, president of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), announced that ‘via official letter, the Government notified the body of Côte d’Ivoire’s resignation as host country of the competition.
There has been no formal justification offered for the country’s withdrawal. This development may now cause the competition to be postponed.
The Confederation of African Football Federation, or CAF, now has less than a month to choose another host.
The Flying Eagles have qualified for the event, which was once set to be hosted by South Africa.
