Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Rivers United has declared Seiyefa Jackson absent without official leave (AWOL).
Rivers United announced the news in a statement on Sunday.
According to the Pride of Rivers, Jackson first claimed to be sick, but the club’s medical experts found no signs of illness.
Despite efforts to corroborate his claims, the player has gone into hiding and is no longer responding to club messages.
According to Rivers United, Jackson joined Ojodu City FC without first receiving the club’s consent or permission to participate in an international event abroad.
Part of the statement reads; ”Seiyefa Jackson, a product of the club’s Feeders team, had initially claimed to be sick, but investigations by the club’s medical team revealed no evidence of illness.
“Despite efforts to verify his claim, the player has since gone into hiding and is no longer responding to communications from the club,”
“Furthermore, it has come to our attention that Seiyefa Jackson has joined Ojodu City FC, an amateur/academy team, without obtaining the necessary clearance or permission from Rivers United FC. This action constitutes a clear breach of his contractual obligations to the club.
“We have formally reported this matter to the relevant authorities, including the Nigeria Football Federation and the Nigeria Premier Football League, and request their urgent intervention.”
